The names

Four names for where a person stands. These are not badges or ranks. They are the distance between your face and the room you are in.

01

Mug

Before the questions

They have not taken the questions. The face is in the glass, and they do not know they are leaving. A mug is a sucker. This is not a name you earn. Finishing the questions is how you stop being one.

02

Full

Where the questions leave you

This is where the questions leave you. Full means the hand is full, and it means you have just found out you were a fool. You are very good at leaving. The moment it gets slow, dull, or uncomfortable, you go. The phone is where you go. Full is not an insult. It is the first time you see it.

03

Clear

Inside The Stay

You can see the feeling, and you can stay in it. The phone is in another room. You still want to leave, and you notice the want. A meal can finish. A dull minute can finish. You know how. You have to keep knowing.

04

Whole

When the life outcompetes the screen

The phone had made a hole. Whole is the hole closed. You have a reason to stay. The face is up. A child gets you, not the top of your head. You can be bored and remain. You do not need the lesson anymore, because the life is already there. This is why you start.

The Ledger — Those Who Saw It

When you finish the questions and step out of Mug, you can record the one word you caught yourself leaving.
