I read a fantastic book almost two years ago, called:

“Monsters & Magical Sticks: There’s No Such Thing As Hypnosis?”

Monsters and Magical Sticks There is No Such Thing as Hypnosisby Dr. Steven Heller.

In very few words it was a book about clinical hypnosis and everyday life. The cute title was given by the author inspired by his five years old son who was afraid of monsters and the author made up a “magic stick” to send those monsters away. The son was satisfied because he believed what his father told him.

Now, why would I write anything about hypnosis and how does it connect with a minimal lifestyle?

The answer is simpler than you may think. By the term “hypnosis”, according to Dr. Heller, are all the beliefs we have, and the stories we tend to believe are true for ourselves.

We believe to be humans, (at least most of us). We have relationships with people like parents, children, relatives, friends and beloved ones. And we believe life is in the way it is. If somebody would come and tell us that all we know are not like we know it, but otherwise, it would be extremely difficult for us to believe. To understand this, try to imagine that your parents aren’t really yours, but you were adopted. Hard to believe right? And that is perfectly normal because we cannot doubt every little thing in our life. It would be madness.

Also, madness though is to believe and hold on to things that we were told and we never really thought about. Are we under hypnosis?

I believe we are. I certainly was for years assuming that I need more and more, connecting my happiness with materialism. And I’m not saying I’m not now, because there are always beliefs inside us.

Being a minimalist and following a minimal lifestyle, is awakening from hypnosis

Hypnosis literally means to be asleep in Greek so to get out of hypnosis means literally to wake up. The secret here though, always according to Dr. Heller, is that nobody can get us out of hypnosis. We and only we can wake up by ourselves.

If I could ring a bell, and start an alarm though…

I would say to ask yourselves, what are the things that you tend to be sure about without questioning? Are those things making you happy? Are those things really things? Do you need all of it? Can you let go?

If you got the meaning, I know you are waking up. It is not going to be immediate but slow like the morning sunshine enters your room in the morning.

Now, I’m going to count backward and when I finish you will be fully aware… 4,3,2,1

Oh, I forgot, you have to do it 😉
