The broken internet connection reconnected me.

We are all connected now, even the most unwilling to use technology cannot get away from the smartphone or the internet. Our life has changed into a wide range of tiny little unimportant things like the new model of a mobile phone or a new app coming. We even evaluate our life with countable “likes” we get.

But was it always like this? What if we get out of the net (as it happened the previous days)?

Well, I have the fortune of having lived before fast internet and smartphones. The previous week I had a technical problem with my internet connection, and it seemed like living in antiquity although I was born only in… 1985. But this is how we live now; this is how we conceive the life and the reality around us. It’s in our nature to adopt in every situation. The cynical part of it is that we tend to forget very quickly where we come from.

And this change happened too fast! In one decade we have totally changed the way we live, love, or connect with others. I remember seeing a kid listening to some music in the bus from his mp3 player. It was an old song that I liked, so I told him I had the same album in an audio cassette. And he asked me surprised

“what is an audio cassette?”

And we are talking about 2007 here not 2016 where even mp3 players have disappeared because everyone uses their phone…

We really cannot see in the future, even if we think we can.

Honestly ask yourself if you would have ever thought this huge change in this little time. I remember when I was little thinking about the future with flying cars and people being happy with robots doing all the work. What we are good at though, is forgetting. We forget how we use to live. The past is like never happened, like a dream we are losing memory little by little.

And don’t get me wrong here, I don’t tend to live in the past either. I like to live in the now and fully experience it. I’m just saying to remember simple things like “chat” is people talking not an application we use, apple and blackberries tend to be… fruits!

Now we are all connected, wired, online, instant messengers.

But in an unfortunate way, we are all so much disconnected. Sure, we can exchange information through technology, live cameras and all. But when the line is off, what does remain? The sad answer is Just an empty room!

Minimal lifestyle is not just the too much stuff we have. It’s also the “too much information” we get, and there is no room in our life for essential things, like friendship, love and real connection. I found a book to be one of the firsts books stating it clearly what we lose and what we gain.

Information_dietYou will not get its treasuries on instant messenger though. You have actually to read it. But I understand that we have been used to get small chunks of information all day and a whole book needs commitment.

So I would suggest, click on the image, read the first page free on Amazon and who knows, maybe you like it for more.
